PRIVACY AND SECURITY
The CEN web site is password protected to allow access by registered Cornell University alumni, students or staff only. Furthermore, the registration forms on the CEN web site are located on a secure web site that incorporates the latest encryption technology. Although these precautions should effectively protect any personal information available through The CEN web site from abuse or outside interference, a certain degree of privacy risk is faced any time information is shared over the Internet. Therefore, through the personal profile feature of the CEN web site, you have the ability to control the nature and amount of information available to other alumni.
CORNELL POLICY AND GUIDELINES FOR PROPER USE
To safeguard the operation of the CEN web site, CEN has adopted the guidelines and policies that are used by the University to govern conduct, particularly conduct that occurs in an online environment. As members of the extended University community, alumni are expected to adhere to policies established through the Honor System, the Judiciary Committee's Standards of Conduct, the University's Information and Technology and Communication Policies and the guidelines set forth in the University's Ethics in Computer Usage policy.
Also, information available through the CEN web site may be used for individual communication of a personal nature between the alumni listed herein and official University use only. Use of the CEN web site for any commercial, public or political mailing is strictly prohibited. Prohibited uses of the information in the CEN web site include but are not limited to
The University expects directory members to exhibit the same level of respect for others in this forum as in any other University-related venue (such as at a reunion event). For this reason, it is essential that the alumni users of the online service report any abuses or misuse of the online service to CEN. If CEN determines that a user's participation in the online service may create a liability for CEN or the University or that the user has violated the policies set forth herein, CEN reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to take actions against the user. CEN reserves the right to expel a user and to deny a user further access to the online service if such user violates these policies or any applicable laws or regulations. The University may deny access to the online service to any individual at any time.
LIABILITY AND INDEMNITY
The reliability of the information available through the the online service web site is largely dependent upon the actions of alumni registrants. CEN can make no representations about the accuracy, reliability, completeness, or timeliness of this information.
CEN does not warrant that The CEN web site will operate error-free or that the site and its server are free of computer viruses or other harmful material. To the fullest extent permitted by law, CEN disclaims all warranties, including the warranties of merchantability, non-infringement, and fitness for particular purpose. In no event shall CEN or the University be liable for any damages whatsoever, including, without limitation, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, resulting from the use of or inability to use information or materials available on the The CEN web site. By using the the CEN web site, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless CEN, the University, and their respective agents from and against any and all losses, claims, damages, costs, and expenses that may arise from your use of the the CEN web site or your breach of these policies. CEN will provide notice to you of any such action or claim, and reserves the right to participate, at your expense, in the investigation, settlement, and defense of any such action or claim.

Participation in The CEN web site is a privilege. By using the system, you agree to abide by the online service policies outlined herein. If you cannot accept these policies, please do not use the online service.
